Please Note
New York State Historic Sites are largely accessible. Please let us know if anyone in your group has any mobility issues.
Admission Fee
$3.00 per person, including chaperones (Purple Heart recipients are free).
Payment
Can be made by check or with cash, in advance or the day of the visit. Checks should be made
out to "State of New York OPRHP / National Purple Heart Hall of Honor." Group leaders, please collect all fees to be paid for
your group and present them to the staff person at the reception desk before your visit begins.
Cancellations & Changes to Your Visit
If you must cancel or change any details of you visit (E.G., arrival time, number in group, etc). Please
alert us as soon as possible by calling 1-877-28HONOR (toll free). If possible, please speak directly with a member of the staff.
Chaperone Policy
For groups of students/children, we require a ratio of 1 chaperone for every 6 children.
Bus Parking
There are several spaces reserved for buses in the parking lot in front of the building. For groups of people with limited mobility,
we can make arrangements for a bus to pull to the back of the building to drop off visitors. Please speak with a member of the staff to
arrange this. Please do not leave buses engines idling for long periods of time.
Eating on Site
No food, drinks or chewing gum in the buildings please. In fair weather, there are picnic tables outside, on our grounds. Please
leave all foodstuffs on the bus, or consult the staff about an appropriate area for storing them until lunch time. If you would like
information on local restaurants, please speak with a staff member. No food or drinks are sold on site, but water fountains are available.
Photography Policy
Please feel free to take outdoor photographs. Excessive light from flashes can harm old and fragile artifacts. Please remind your
group to refrain from taking flash photographs indoors.
Gift Shop
The gift shop is located in the front entrance of the Hall of Honor. When visiting with students, please chaperone them in this area.
Due to its small size, we recommend admitting no more than 6 students at a time into the shop, and ask that group chaperones oversee
these logistics.
If you are also visiting the Cantonment's outdoor living history area, we suggest dressing for the weather (including footwear).
Museum Manners
If you are guiding or chaperoning groups of young visitors, please remind everyone before arrival of
the following rules:
- Please no touching objects on display, and no leaning on display cases
- no gum, food or drink in the buildings
- please silence cell phones while on tour
